Our goal is teach all the campers the basics of surfing. As well as ocean awareness, surfing etiquette, and safety. We hope to leave each camper with the passion and knowledge to be a surfer. There will be a 1 to 5 ratio of instructor to camper, with a head instructor overseeing the entire camp. Every camper will leave with a t-shirt, hat, stickers, and more. Everyone who finishes camp will receive a Surfing Certificate of Achievement. Also 2 campers will receive a special reward for “Best Attitude” and “Most Improved”

9:00: Check-in, orientation and introduction.
9:15: Morning briefing including ocean safety education, surfing etiquette, and preview of the day's conditions and activities.
9:30: Stretching exercises, warm-up run, break into groups
9:45: On the beach training, standing up correctly, laying on the board correctly, etc.
10:00: Small groups go in water for training
10:45: Break under tents, hydrate, snack
11:05: Head into water for water training
11:45: Wrap up the days lesson, remind students about ocean awareness, rip currents, surfing etiquette, etc.
12:00: Clean up the beach. Make sure ALL trash is picked up.

Camp is held on Pensacola Beach, Fl across from Portofino Resort.

On April 1st, 2009 we will release more detailed information about dates as well as registration forms. The first day of camp is June 1st and will be held weekly throughout the summer.

A snack, something to drink, a towel, and sunscreen, WE ALSO STRONGLY RECOMMEND A RASH GUARD (a lycra stretch shirt designed to be worn in the water). Rash Guards help prevent sunburn as well as a rash. Surfboards are provided (we asked that you DO NOT bring your personal board)

Anyone over the age of 8 is more than welcome!

Coach JB is the head instructor. He is co-owner of Innerlight Surf Shop. He has been surfing since the age of 14. He has competed in a number of contests and has been teaching kids, including his own children, for many years. He had a lot of fun last year with all of the surf campers and is ready for next year.
Coach Justin is an assistant instructor. He has worked at Innerlight since the age of 16. He has been surfing for practically his whole life. He is the son of JB Schluter (the head instructor). He also had a blast this past summer with all the surf campers, and is counting down the days till next summer. |
